It’s exactly a week to #LEAPSIPA2016

Each year, LEAP Africa’s Social Innovators Programme and Awards 2016, (SIPA) recognizes the work of 40 young leaders creating impact through innovative business ideas.  They combine compassion and business acumen to scale solutions that are needed for community development.

LEAP Africa is excited to unveil the fourth edition of the Social Innovators Programme and Awards 2016, themed “Building Communities” on November 10, 2016.

The Award recognizes and rewards creativity and innovative ideas that tackle pressing community social needs and promotes social inclusion. We are proud to honor forty (40) Fellows who have shown their commitment for sustainable development in Nigeria.

The city of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State expects to welcome over 500 people for the annual Fellowship programme, sponsored by Union Bank.

In our drive to see young social entrepreneurs thrive and succeed in businesses across the 36 states of Nigeria, we continue to work with organisations and partners who appreciate and support youth-lead initiatives that offer effective solutions to challenges in communities across Nigeria.

Speaking at a Press Conference organised by LEAP Africa and Union Bank on October 25, 2016, Mrs. Ndidi Nwuneli, Founder, LEAP Africa, commented on the history of the partnership with Union Bank, and how Union Bank has continued to provide financing for the entrepreneurs from the programme. “This year, we are taking on a new batch of fellows, and our hope is that these young people will be catalysts and will inspire many other young people to join them. We believe that young people are assets, and we need to recognize their potentials, and Union Bank recognizes the importance of these young entrepreneurs in Nigeria. We are grateful for this partnership, and we thank Union Bank for being a visionary bank”.

Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem, Head, Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communication, Union Bank responded saying “As a bank, we have all agreed that we want to be a catalyst for social change; a bank that responds to social problems and issues, and not just pursuing corporate social responsibility for its own sake”.
