momentum
All leaders face the challenge of creating change in an organistaion. The key is momentum – What I call the Big Mo. Just as every sailor knows that you can’t steer a ship that isn’t moving forwards, strong leaders understand that to change direction, you first have to create forward progress – and that takes the Law of the Big Mo.

It takes a leader to create momentum. Followers catch it. And Mangers are able to continue it once it has begun. But creating it requires someone who can motivate others, not who needs to be motivated.

Momentum is a leader’s best friend. Sometimes it’s the only difference between losing and winning. It also makes a huge difference in organizations. When you have no momentum, even the simplest tasks can seem to be insurmountable problems. But when you have momentum on your side, the future looks bright, obstacles appear small, and trouble seems temporary.

Usually when leaders have momentum on their side, people think they are geniuses. They look past shortcomings. They forget about the mistakes the leaders have made. Momentum changes people’s perspective of leaders. People are also motivated and inspired to perform at higher levels. They become effective beyond their hopes and expectations.

With momentum, getting started is a struggle, but once you start moving forward, you can really start to do some amazing things.

Momentum-2

We face great challenges everyday but how do we prevent people from giving up and throwing in the towel. What do we need to do is to keep the vision alive?

Focus on what can be done as opposed to what cannot. Celebrate victories no matter how small. You’ll find out that you’ll begin to make progress in areas that seemed difficult and you’ll build strong leaders around you.
